Fundraisers & Events

Bakeless Bake Sale Fundraiser takes place every January.   Just as it sounds, the bake sale is a way for people to contribute without going through the burden of actually baking a pie, cake or cookies.  The sum of the ingredients or any amount of contribution is always greatly appreciated.

Taco Tuesday celebrates Cinco de Mayo and takes place in April with a delicious taco bar prepared by volunteer members of our board.

Volunteer Appreciation Open House takes place in April during National Volunteer Appreciation Week.  The Center honors its many volunteers with a special thank you dinner.

Senior Picnic takes place in August at the senior center. You must be over 60 years old to attend and you must have a ticket. We provide lunch and play Bingo for prizes, and a chance to win a nice door prize.

Farmers' Market Bake Sales are offered at the Common market area three or four Saturdays throughout the summer. The schedule will be listed in the center newsletter.

Special Field Trips, offered throughout the year, are various day trips to regional destinations from the senior center. Recent trips went to Meijer Gardens and Meyer May House in Grand Rapids and the Kokomo Opalescent Glass in Kokomo, Indiana.

Senior Day at Berrien County Youth Fair takes place in the second week in August. It is our way of showcasing our senior’s talents and creativity in many categories of arts and crafts.  All are welcome to participate and enter their creative items.

Euchre Tournament Fundraiser Fiesta takes place in October and is a collaboration with the local Buchanan-Galien Lion’s Club.  We play till our heart’s content hoping to be the winner and enjoy a fiesta of fun Mexican food.

Travelling Euchre Tournament. A few  times per year, BASC participates in a traveling Euchre tournament that rotates between the Senior Centers of Berrien County.

Annual Christmas Bazaar gives us all a chance to rent tables and show off our crafts and talents.  We enthusiastically do our Holiday shopping and each collects one-of-a-kind and unique gifts to put under the tree.

New Year’s Party – We like to ring in the New Year with friends and family at the Center each year with prizes, fun and great food.
